Areas Of Prince Edward County To Stay

Stay In Picton For Convenience

The best place to stay in Prince Edward County for convenience and dining options is Picton in a hotel along the water

If it’s your first time visiting Prince Edward County, you might want to consider staying in Picton. It’s the largest town in the county, and offers easy access to restaurants, shops, wineries, and attractions.

You’ll find everything from boutique hotels and historic inns to cozy bed and breakfasts. Staying here means you can walk to many restaurants in the evening and spend less time driving between destinations. It also has more to do during the evening hours if nightlife is your thing.

Driver’s Tip: Book accommodations within walking distance of Main Street. Parking can become limited during summer weekends, and being able to explore on foot without having to fight traffic makes your stay much more enjoyable.

Wellington: Perfect Place To Stay In Prince Edward County for Wine Lovers

Stay in Wellington, Ontario to be close to the majority of the wineries in PEC

Wellington is my favourite place to stay in Prince Edward County. This lakeside community combines small-town charm with excellent restaurants and coffee shops, boutique shops, and nearby wineries.

Many visitors choose Wellington because it’s close to the county’s most popular wineries. After a day of wine tasting, it’s nice to return to a walkable village where you can enjoy dinner without getting back in the car.

Sunsets along Wellington’s waterfront are spectacular. Try to book accommodations within walking distance of the shoreline for evening strolls.

Stay Near Sandbanks Provincial Park

Picton is the largest town in Prince Edward County and offers the most dining and shopping options to visitors

If you’re visiting The County for the beach, then staying near Sandbanks Provincial Park is hard to beat. The area offers cottages, vacation rentals, campgrounds, and family-friendly accommodations. If you will be visiting Sandbanks Provincial Park and prefer the convenience of a nearby town, I recommend staying in Picton. It’s only a 13 minute drive away.

During peak summer months, proximity to Sandbanks can save significant time since parking fills quickly and traffic can become congested.

Driver’s Tip: Purchase your Sandbanks reservation in advance. During July and August, day-use permits often sell out, even for visitors staying nearby.

Stay In Belleville To Save Money And Explore More

If you’re looking to stretch your travel budget, staying in Belleville is a smart option when visiting Prince Edward County. Located just across the Bay of Quinte, Belleville is only about a 20 to 30-minute drive to many of the County’s top attractions, including wineries, beaches, and charming villages.

You’ll often find a wider selection of hotels at lower prices than in Prince Edward County itself, along with plenty of restaurants, shopping, and grocery stores. It’s an excellent home base if you’re planning several days of exploring while keeping accommodation costs down.

Driver’s Tip: Be sure to start your day early so you can beat the traffic heading into the County, especially if you’re planning to visit popular wineries or spend the day at the beach.
