Best Wineries To Visit In Prince Edward County
I recently visited Prince Edward County for the very first time. I know that’s surprising since I’m such a wine lover. Before I left, I asked a friend who lived in the County what the best wineries to visit in Prince Edward County were and her recommendations definitely didn’t disappoint. Unfortunately, I only had 24 hours in Prince Edward County, but I was able to fit in a few wineries to visit during my stay.
While there are more than 40 wineries scattered across the region, a handful stood out to me for their exceptional wines, beautiful settings, and memorable tasting experiences.
If you’re planning a wine getaway to Prince Edward County, these are the wineries I recommend adding to your itinerary. In my opinion, they’re the best wineries to visit in Prince Edward County and shouldn’t be missed.
History Of Prince Edward County And Its Wineries

Prince Edward County has a rich history that dates back centuries. It was originally inhabited by Indigenous peoples, including the Mississauga Nation, who used the land’s waterways for travel and trade long before European settlement. In the late 18th century, Loyalists fleeing the American Revolution began to settle in the area, shaping many of the towns and rural communities that still exist today. The county’s historic villages, barns, and waterfront landscapes reflect this deep agricultural and maritime heritage, giving it a timeless, rural charm that continues to draw visitors.
The same rolling fields that once supported traditional agriculture now host more than 40 boutique wineries, each offering its own take on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, and sparkling wines.
Closson Chase Winery
One of the first wineries established in Prince Edward County, Closson Chase has helped put The County on the wine map. The iconic purple barn is impossible to miss, and the winery produces some of the region’s most celebrated Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines. The tasting experience feels relaxed and refined, and the vineyard views are stunning.
What I love most is how Closson Chase balances innovation with sustainability. If you’re a wine enthusiast or simply looking for a beautiful place to spend an afternoon, this winery is a must-visit when in Prince Edward County.
Broken Stone Winery

Located in the heart of Prince Edward County, Broken Stone Winery is known for producing small batch wines that showcase the region’s unique limestone-rich soil. The winery offers a welcoming atmosphere where you can enjoy tastings of award winning Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and other cool-climate varietals while taking in beautiful vineyard views.
The modern tasting room and outdoor patio provide the perfect setting to relax and experience the laid-back charm of Prince Edward County.
Huff Estates Winery
If you’re only visiting one winery in Prince Edward County, Huff Estates is a fantastic choice. The property feels more like a destination resort than a winery. Along with a large tasting room, you’ll find an inn, restaurant, vineyard views, and the impressive Oeno Gallery sculpture garden.
During your visit, you can expect to enjoy wandering through the outdoor art installations before settling onto the patio with a tasting flight. The combination of wine, art, and countryside scenery makes Huff Estates one of the most unique winery experiences in Ontario.

Karlo Estates: My Favourite Winery To Visit In Prince Edward County

Karlo Estates was my favourite winery that I visited. Not only for the wine, but the ambiance is so cool and different from any winery I’ve seen. It’s famous for producing the world’s first certified vegan wines, but that’s only part of what makes it special. Housed in a beautifully restored historic barn, the winery offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere that feels distinctly Prince Edward County.
I found Karlo Estates to be one of the most fun wineries to visit. They regularly host live music, special events, and unique tasting experiences. If you’re travelling with friends or looking for a winery with plenty of personality, this is an excellent stop.
Sugarbush Vineyards

Sugarbush Vineyards is often considered one of the best wineries in Prince Edward County thanks to its commitment to crafting high quality, estate grown wines. You’ll find this hidden gem nestled among rolling vineyards and picturesque countryside. The winery is particularly known for its excellent Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and sparkling wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region.
What sets Sugarbush apart is the welcoming and intimate experience it offers visitors. The relaxed tasting room, knowledgeable staff, and beautiful vineyard setting make it easy to spend an afternoon sampling wines and learning about the winemaking process. Combined with consistently excellent wines and stunning views, Sugarbush Vineyards remains a favourite stop for both first-time visitors and seasoned wine enthusiasts exploring Prince Edward County.
Norman Hardie Winery
Wine lovers from across Canada make the trip to Prince Edward County specifically to visit Norman Hardie Winery. The winery has built a reputation for producing exceptional Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Riesling that showcase the region’s unique terroir.
One of the best parts is enjoying a wood-fired pizza paired with a glass of wine on the patio. It’s the kind of place where you show up expecting a glass of wine, but you can easily spend the afternoon.
The Grange of Prince Edward

For a more laid back and family run experience, The Grange is a wonderful choice. The winery’s farm setting feels quintessentially Prince Edward County, complete with vineyard views, rustic charm, and friendly staff.
Every visit feels relaxed and unpretentious. It’s the perfect place to slow down and soak in the rural beauty that makes The County so special. The wines continue to earn praise from visitors and locals alike, making it one of the area’s hidden gems, and one of the best wineries in Prince Edward County.
