Fall In Love With Paris Ontario: A 2 Day Itinerary

When you hear “Paris,” you probably think of the Eiffel Tower and croissants in France, but did you know Ontario has its very own Paris too? Tucked along the Grand River, Paris, Ontario is often called “Canada’s prettiest little town,” and for good reason. With historic buildings, scenic river views, and a cozy small-town vibe, it’s the perfect spot for a quick two day getaway.

Paris, Ontario is a popular destination for those wanting a quick 2 day escape from the city. Although Paris is a small town, it’s packed with tons of things to do which will keep you busy for a full 2 days. Let’s dive right into my recommended 2 day itinerary for your visit to Paris, Ontario.

Day 1 Of 2 Days In Paris, Ontario

Although I recommend spending two nights, you can easily do this 2 day itinerary in Paris, Ontario if you’re just spending one night.

Are you in the midst of planning a vacation in Ontario, Canada? Let me help you out. As a life-long resident, the following are the platforms that I generally use when I’m road tripping around my beautiful Province:

🏡 Rentals: Ontario has every style of accommodation rental imaginable, to suit every budget and travel style. For my vacation rentals, I use VRBO. This platform provides a wide variety of accommodations for every budget.

🏢 Hotels: Sometimes, I prefer to stay at a hotel, especially if I’m just staying in the area for a night or two. My go-to platform for booking hotels in Ontario is always Booking.com

🚴‍♀️ Activities: Ontario has so many activities to offer that it’s often difficult to choose. My favourite platform to find activities in each area of Ontario is Get Your Guide

🚗 Car Rentals: Ontario is so massive that’s it’s literally impossible to explore everything without a vehicle. Although I do have my own car, there have been times that I’ve rented a vehicle – especially for longer road trips. When in doubt, I’ve used Booking.com to find the best deal on rentals.

💰 Insurance: When travelling abroad, I purchase my medical insurance through Advisor Max, as well as my cancellation and trip-interruption insurance. Advisor Max is also the ideal company for visitors to Ontario, or any part of Canada, to purchase their travel insurance.

Book Your Accommodations In Advance

Given that Paris is a popular destination and doesn’t have an abundance of accommodations in town, it will be necessary to book your accommodations well in advance of your visit. I recommend staying at The Mulberry House on the Grand, which is a luxury bed and breakfast.

Visitors can also book accommodations closer to Brantford which offers many chain hotels located a 5 minute drive from downtown Paris.

Coffee and Breakfast at The Dog Eared Cafe

The Dog Eared Cafe is a one-of-a-kind coffee shop. The combination of first rate coffee and second hand books make this cafe the perfect starting point for exploring Paris. The cafe offers a large variety of coffee, lattes, tea, and cold coffees, as well as fresh baked goods. Even if you spend two nights in Paris, I highly recommend visiting The Dog Eared Cafe.

Time On The Grand River

If spending 2 nights in Paris, and you choose to stay at The Mulberry House, breakfast is included, as is tubing the Grand River. The property also has an indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna to relax in after your morning or afternoon out on the Grand River. The Mulberry House on the Grand is one of two unique places to stay when visiting Paris.

When staying at The Mulberry House on the Grand, tubing is included in your 2 day itinerary

Canoe/Kayak Rentals

If you opt to spend one night in Paris, you can still enjoy time on the river. If you don’t own a canoe or kayak, rentals are available at Grand River Rafting or Grand Experiences. Don’t forget to bring a swimsuit, hat and water shoes.

Lunch at The Cobblestone Public House

After an active morning out on the river, The Cobblestone Public House is my favourite spot to relax and refuel. The menu is extensive offering typical pub food (try the nachos), and also offers views over-looking the Grand River. Even after a morning of adventure, you will feel right at home in the laid-back, casual atmosphere of Cobblestones.

Check Into Your Accommodations

If you haven’t already, you can now check into your accommodations. Take the time to rest and clean up after several hours of adventure on the water.

Sip Craft Beer At Paris Brewery

The Paris Brewery offers a wide selection of locally crafted beer

I’ll admit that I’m not much of a beer drinker. Heck, I don’t even drink beer. But the Paris Brewery is definitely a highlight of mine whenever I visit Paris. In addition to locally made craft beer, food is available if you’re hungry.

Driver’s Tip: If they aren’t busy, sit at the bar where the staff are more than happy to share their knowledge (ask for Jeremy)

Dinner Time In Paris, Ontario

For a town as small as Paris, it has one heck of a food scene. While there are many options available, my recommendations are either Stillwater Plate & Pour or Junipers.

Stillwater Plate & Pour

Stillwaters Plate & Pour in Paris, Ontario is a popular restaurant in the downtown right on the Grand River

Stillwater Plate & Pour is located smack dab in the middle of downtown Paris. While it isn’t classified as being an upscale restaurant, it is a step above the typical pubfare. During the Summer the large patio over-looking the Grand River is where you want to be, but make sure you reserve your spot in advance.

Juniper Dining Co

For a more upscale dining experience, I recommend Junipers. The small, cozy atmosphere makes for the ideal intimate setting. But be aware – it isn’t cheap!

Driver’s Tip: Although Junipers is more upscale, casual attire, including jeans, is acceptable

Private Chef At The Mulberry House on the Grand

If you are staying at the Mulberry House, you might want to consider cooking with a private chef for a relaxing night in. This is the perfect option if you’re travelling with family and friends.

Chef Clay Smith will come into the comfort of your home when staying at The Mulberry House on the Grand in Paris, Ontario

End of Day 1 of Your 2 Day Itinerary In Paris, Ontario

After a long day of adventure, it’s time to call it a day. While Paris offers many things to do during the day, the nightlife is non-existant lol.

If you have booked a stay at The Mulberry House on the Grand, return to your accommodations to find a relaxing bonfire glowing along the banks of the Grand River.

Day 2 Of Your 2 Day Paris, Ontario Itinerary

Just because it’s your last day in Ontario’s prettiest small town, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it. There are still lots of leisurely activities to experience before you head home.

Breakfast In Paris

Begin your day with a hearty breakfast. If you’ve booked the Mulberry House, you will have a choice between 5 items. You fill out your choices and set them on the kitchen counter in the evening before going to bed. If you have one of the breakfasts served at this luxury bed and breakfast, there will be no need to eat lunch!

Eggsmart For Breakfast

If you have booked your accommodations elsewhere, I recommend breakfast at Eggsmart which is located at the edge of town.

The menu is extensive providing a choice of eggs, pancakes, and waffles. All at a reasonable price, with massive servings.

Hike The Nith River Trail

Hiking the Nith River Trail in Paris, Ontario is a relaxing and immersive hiking experience

After a hearty breakfast, you will want to walk off some of those calories with a leisurely, immersive hike along the Nith River. I recommend beginning the trail from Lion’s Park.

The Nith River Trail is a moderately difficult, 4.3 km loop trail, but I recommend staying on the pathway which will take you to downtown Paris. This way is much shorter and easier. It’s at this point that I like to pop back into the Paris Brewery for a cold one before heading back to my car.

Browse The Shops and Explore Winsey Mills

Make sure you include exploring the shops in Winsey Mills on your 2 days in Paris Ontario itinerary

While downtown, this is the perfect opportunity to browse the unique shops and explore the local food stalls and items created by local artisans found inside of Winsey Mills.

Touring The Cobblestone Capital Of Canada

Paris, Ontario is known as the cobblestone capital of Canada. If you’re into architecture, I recommend taking the self-directed cobblestone tour, which consists of six cobblestone buildings.

End Of Day 2 In Paris, Ontario

Before heading home after a fun-filled 2 days in Paris, I recommend grabbing a late lunch at Camp 31. You won’t want to miss out on their award winning chicken and ribs!

Camp 31 in Paris, Ontario is popular for its award winning ribs and fried chicken

Your 2 Day Itinerary For Paris, Ontario: In Conclusion

Although two days might not feel like enough to soak up all of the charm that Paris has to offer, it’s the perfect start. With the natural beauty, boutique shops and some of the best restaurants around, Paris, Ontario will steal your heart in no time at all. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be planning your next visit before you even leave!

ENJOY 🙂
