Best Places To Stay For Exploring Collingwood

If your goal is to visit experience all of the things to do in Collingwood, as well as eat at all the best restaurants, and enjoy the waterfront views, staying along or near Collingwood’s waterfront is your best bet. The following hotels are my favourites whenever I want to explore all that Collingwood has to offer:

Living Water Resort & Spa

The Living Water Resort & Spa is the only waterfront hotel in Collingwood and Blue Mountain. Located right on the shores of Georgian Bay, Living Water Resort offers stunning waterfront views and easy access to the Collingwood Harbour trails.

You can walk downtown to explore boutiques, art galleries, and some of the best restaurants in town. You can also rent bikes, skis, paddleboards, and kayaks right at the resort. It’s the perfect spot if you love morning walks by the water and sunset views over the bay.

The VanderMarck Boutique Hotel

The VanderMarck Boutique Hotel is set in a beautifully restored heritage building in the heart of downtown Collingwood. It offers style, comfort, and most importantly, convenience. When staying at the VanderMarck Boutique Hotel, you’ll be just steps away from the cafes, breweries, and local shops that can be found in Collingwood’s historic downtown district.

Worried that you won’t be able to see the beautiful shores of Georgian Bay? Don’t be! The waterfront is a short 15 minute walk. The location of the VanderMarck Boutique Hotel is ideal if you want to experience the local scene without having to drive. More importantly, the VanderMarck Boutique Hotel offers a more intimate and homey atmosphere than staying in a typical hotel or resort.

Living Stone Golf Resort

Just a short drive from downtown, the Living Stone Golf Resort offers the best of both worlds. It’s located in a quiet area, surrounded by green space, but also offers an easy access into town.

The Living Stone Golf Resort is the sister resort of Living Water Resort & Spa. When staying at Living Stone, you will also have access to the amenities of Living Water, such as the upscale restaurant, spa, and hydrotherapy facilities. The Living Stone Golf Resort truly is like a home away from home.

Driver’s Tip: Living Stone Golf Resort is right next door to Cranberry Mews. Make sure you stop in at Heavenly Cafe for a specialty coffee and a slice of carrot cake

All three of these Collingwood hotels offer full kitchens, which makes any one of them ideal for longer stays, travelling as a group with friends and family, or as a solo traveller.

Best Places To Stay To Enjoy Blue Mountain

If you’re all about adventure; skiing, hiking, biking, or spa relaxation, then the Village of Blue Mountain is where you’ll want to stay. The Village of Blue Mountain offers many resort rooms, and condo and villa rentals, but they book up fast, especially during the winter months.

Blue Mountain Mosaic Suites

The Blue Mountain Mosaic Suites is my all-time favourite place to stay when I’m visiting Blue Mountain. Last winter, I spent a week at this resort with my family. The rooms are large enough for a family of at least 4 and possibly 5, depending on the age of the children. There were 6 of us travelling, so we had to rent 2 rooms.

You can’t get much closer to the action than staying in the heart of the Village. The suites at the Mosaic put you steps away from the slopes, mountain biking trails, and restaurants. There’s also a year-round outdoor pool and hot tub, as well as a gym and children’s playroom on site. It’s perfect for families and for those who want a full resort experience, with everything at your doorstep.

The Westin Trillium House

For more of an upscale stay, the Westin offers beautiful mountain or village views, a year-round outdoor heated pool, and direct access to Blue Mountain’s year-round activities.

Located at the base of the ski hill, this is a great choice for couples or families who are avid skiiers, or who just want both adventure and relaxation in one stay.

Blue Mountain Chalets And Condos

I'm bundled up for my walk from our condo rental to the Village of Blue Mountain

In addition to the two resorts located centrally in the Village, Blue Mountain also offers an abundance of privately rented chalets and condos throughout the year. They aren’t located directly in the village, but many are just a short walk or drive to the slopes. Many also offer ski-in/ski-out, more space and all the comforts of home.

As mentioned earlier, all of these accommodations book up fast. I recommend booking 6 months in advance to be on the safe side.

Want easy access to both Collingwood and Blue Mountain? Consider staying midway between the two along First Street or Mountain Road. This area gives you quick access to the downtown restaurants in Collingwood, the Georgian Trail, and the slopes at Blue Mountain, and they’re all within a 10 minute drive.

Collingwood And Blue Mountain Accommodations: In Conclusion

Whether you stay in Collingwood or Blue Mountain is completely up to you and what your preference is. Either destination offers comfortable accommodations with full kitchens, as well as close proximity to the best restaurants in each town.

Staying in Collingwood or Blue Mountain will also give you easy access to some great towns to explore along Georgian Bay. You can’t go wrong with staying at either of these beautiful Ontario towns.

Are you in the midst of planning a vacation in Ontario, Canada? Let me help you out. As a life-long resident, the following are the platforms that I generally use when I’m road tripping around my beautiful Province:

🏡 Rentals: Ontario has every style of accommodation rental imaginable, to suit every budget and travel style. For my vacation rentals, I use VRBO. This platform provides a wide variety of accommodations for every budget.

🏢 Hotels: Sometimes, I prefer to stay at a hotel, especially if I’m just staying in the area for a night or two. My go-to platform for booking hotels in Ontario is always Booking.com

🚴‍♀️ Activities: Ontario has so many activities to offer that it’s often difficult to choose. My favourite platform to find activities in each area of Ontario is Get Your Guide

🚗 Car Rentals: Ontario is so massive that’s it’s literally impossible to explore everything without a vehicle. Although I do have my own car, there have been times that I’ve rented a vehicle – especially for longer road trips. When in doubt, I’ve used Booking.com to find the best deal on rentals.

💰 Insurance: When travelling abroad, I purchase my medical insurance through Advisor Max, as well as my cancellation and trip-interruption insurance. Advisor Max is also the ideal company for visitors to Ontario, or any part of Canada, to purchase their travel insurance.
